Anile-ECMI Prize for Mathematics in Industry 2012

The Associazione Angelo Marcello Anile and ECMI are proud to announce the second Anile-ECMI Prize for Mathematics in Industry to be awarded at the ECMI 2012 conference in Lund, July 23-27. The prize will be given to a young researcher for an excellent PhD theses in industrial mathematics successfully submitted at a European university in 2010-2012.

P.h.D Award "Anile Prize 2011"

The Angelo Marcello Anile Association announce the prize in honor of the lateProf. Angelo Marcello Anile, in memory of his scientific achievements. The Prize is awarded to one individual for a PhD thesis written in English and submitted in an Italian university that bridges the gap between mathematics and applications. Work that uses high-level mathematics and/or invents new mathematical tools to solve applied problems from economics, engineering, science, and technology is particularly appropriate. The value of the work will be measured by the quality of the mathematics and its impact on the application.

General assembly October 27, 2010

Members are invited to attend the general assembly of the Association to be held on the first call on 27 October 2010 at 15:00 in the classroom 126, Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, Viale A. Doria No 6. In the second call - if there will not be quorum - the assembly will be held on the same day at 16:30 in the same place to vote on the following

First Edition Anile Prize

Awards Ceremony
Wednesday, June 9, 2010,

The prize, established by the Angelo Marcello Anile Association and Consorzio Catania Ricerche, is assigned, on the advice of an international commitee, for a doctoral thesis written in English and presented in an Italian university. For the subject of participating thesis has been used advanced mathematics or new tools of applied mathematics have been developed to solve problems in business, engineering, science and technology.

At the invitation of the organizers, the awards will take place during the final two months of intensive workshops INDAM accordance with the following agenda:

  • 11:50 am - Award Ceremony of the winner Dr. Alessio Figallo

Anile 2010 PhD Award

The association Angelo Marcello Anile and Consorzio Catania Ricerche announce that the jury of the award has completed the task of examining the dissertations.

The Commission itself has sent the following report.

The Jury of the Anile Prize, formed by Profs. Pierre Degond, from Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique, Toulouse, David Jou, from Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, and Antonino Risitano, from Università di Catania, have examined the 23 doctoral thesis and the curricula of the respective authors applying for the Prize. They have remarked the high level of the contributions of the candidates and of their doctoral work and ensuing scientific publications. After deliberation, the jury has nominated Dr. Alessio Figalli for his impressive contributions to the analysis of applied partial differential equations, and more specifically to the theories of optimal transportation, incompressible Euler equations and Hamilton-Jacobi equations.

In a short time a comunication about the date of the award ceremony will be given.

ANILE-ECMI Prize for MATHEMATICS in INDUSTRY

The Associazione Angelo Marcello Anile and ECMI are happy to announce the first ANILE-ECMI PRIZE for MATHEMATICS in INDUSTRY to be awarded at the ECMI 2010 conference in Wuppertal, July 26-30. The prize will be given to a young researcher for an excellent PhD theses in industrial mathematics successfully submitted at a European university in 2008-2010. The award honoring Professor Angelo Marcello Anile (1948-2007) of Catania, Italy, consist of a prize money of € 2500 and an invitation for a keynote talk at the ECMI 2010 conference.

Submission of Entries: A copy of the thesis should be sent as PDF-File to the Chairman of ECMI 2010 to arrive by April, 30 2010. The entry should be accompanied by a letter from the PhD supervisor which summarises the mathematical and industrial relevance of the work. Please, use ANILE-ECMI Prize in the subject line of your e-mail. If the language of the thesis is not English, then it is necessary to send also an extended summary in English.

Assocation Meeting, November 16, 2009

Our members are invited to attend the General Assembly of the Angelo Marcello Anile Association, to be held in the conference hall of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, V.le Andrea Doria n. 6, on the 16th of November 2009. The first convocation will be at 15:00; if the quorum is not reached the second convocation will be at 15:30, in the same venue.

Angelo Marcello Anile Degree Prize 2009

The Commission of the Angelo Marcello Anile Degree Prize 2009, composed by John Miller, Giuseppe Mulone, Fulvio Ricci, examined carefully curricula and dissertations of the prize candidates. Commission unanimously decided to propose the prize awarding for the year 2009 to Dr. Ivan Martino.

The prize will be awarded during the event "Keeping Marcello's memory going 2009" that will take plate at the Scuola Superiore di Catania, located in Via San Nullo 5/i, November 20, 2009 at 18:30.

"Keeping Marcello's memory going 2009" Conference

Nearly two years after its foundation, the Association presents the first edition conference "Keeping Marcello's memory going". The event is primarily aimed to high school and college students in order to offer to young people a proposal in multiple levels of cultural interests.

Degree Prize 2009

Angelo Marcello Anile Association renews the prize of 1000 (one thousand) euros for a young graduate in Mathematics or Computer Science of the Catania University, who has received the degree or equivalent qualification, after May 31 2007.

The deadline for submitting applications to the competition is set for July 31, 2009.
